In this final portfolio, you will see what I have learned to do in terms of writing from my English 100 class. The point of this is to stretch out my hands and exercise my power to express what I am thinking visually. Two different narratives meant to educate, entertain, and persuade which have been typed and retyped from first rough drafts to final thought pieces that correlate and weave into narratives of my own. My first is the My Hiraeth assignment. This assignment was a piece that had to do my yearning for a home that cannot be returned to: hiraeth. First is the 750-word midterm drafts. These drafts were made with substantial revisions and helped with the building blocks of improvement. My first draft was a complete mess, like it is suppose to. It was meant as mainly a thought process and getting my ideas out. Once I had my main ideas out, revisions were made and the messiness was cleaned up for the most part. As for the final, all my ideas were processed on paper and were laid out like a neat bookshelf. Both the drafts and the final for the 750-word version are linked below: For the 1,500 word drafts and final, much revision and thought was put into my assignment. I had put much more imagery in my drafts and I included more explanation as to why I missed the home I could not return to. With the criticism I received and positive outlook, I enhanced My Hiraeth for the reader to more easily understand the composition. Below is the link to my two 1,500-word drafts and my final portfolio for My Hiraeth: The second assignment I decided to do for the argument-based portfolio is the Film-Based Argument assignment. In this assignment, I chose to argue my position for the comparison in the importance of the main character's role in the film, "Survivor" and a writer's role. I chose for this to be my argument because I felt it was a complex, thought-provoking narrative that would help exercise my brain growth like we had learned about when we explored the growth mindset vs. fixed mindset topic. For my midterm, I composed a 750-word draft and a 750-word final (draft #2). These are my 750-word Film-Based Argument drafts linked below: For my 1,500-word Film-Based Argument drafts and final portfolio, I provided more credible sources and properly provided the sources with embedded links for these sources and the authors' names. I also made further arguments in my assignment, then provided the final touches in organization. Below are my 1,500-word drafts and the final portfolio for the Film-Based Argument:
- Film-Based Argument (1,500-word draft #1)
- Film-Based Argument (1,500-word draft #2)
- Film-Based Argument (1,500-word FINAL)
